The auction house Sotheby, Wilkinson & Hodge, established by Samuel Baker in 1744, took the name Sotheby's in 1924 and moved from Wellington Street to New Bond Street in 1917

 

 

The names of Sir Clement Anderson Montague Barlow (1868-1951), Geoffrey Dudley Hobson (1882-1949) and Captain Felix Walter Warre (1879-1953) appear on the title page as partners at Sotheby's.
