Wallis and Wallis Arms Fair Militaria Auction Catalogue (1974)

Auction catalogue from militaria specialists Wallis and Wallis, of West Street Auction Galleries, Lewes, Sussex

Wallis and Wallis started a series of auctions in East Sussex after the Second World War but began to specialise in Arms and Militaria when Roy Butler became a partner, finally taking over the business in the early 1960s. Roy s son, Glenn joined the company in the mid-1980s, using his love of, and deep knowledge of Toys to bring a new specialisation to the business for toy auctions

A treasure trove of a Militaria Auction Catalogue used by the late Australian Militaria collector Monty Webb.

This lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Provenance signed by Warwick Wedd, son of Montague (Monty) Thomas Archibald Wedd (OAM). Acclaimed artist, animator and author, Monty Wedd’s great passion for historic preservation culminated in the Monarch Historical Museum, established in 1960. A returned serviceman, Monty Wedd served for both the Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force in World War II. He was widely regarded by his peers as being Australia’s foremost authority on pre-Federation military history. He was both a Fellow of the Australian Institute of History and Arts (FAIHA) and a Fellow of the Manly Historical Society (FMHS). Monty Wedd was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) In 1993 for his "Services as an Author, Illustrator, and Historian".
