War in the Air (1941) By David Garnett

David Garnett, writer and aviator (attached to the R.A.F. and to the Air Ministry Intelligence) writes a critical, factual survey of the war in the air to date. Based on official figures, Garnett analyzes the war in Poland, in the Netherlands, Norway, France, and the "phony" war. Relative strengths and weaknesses of the R.A.F. and the Luftwaffe, and the conclusion of quality versus quantity. The work of the coastal, bomber, and fighter commands -- the policies of the air forces, etc. Little personal material, save for an occasional anecdote. On the whole a book for men, students, and followers of winged warfare.
