Oxford Diecast British Army Desert Bedford MWD (1:76 Scale)

The Bedford MWD, first launched in 1937, was a 15 cwt general service truck which was used extensively by the British Army during WWII. It was based on the commercial 2-ton truck but to cope with the potentially uneven military terrain, its chassis was modified to give it extra ground clearance. Built to take a crew of one originally, it was built with a canvas roof and doors and a collapsible windscreen. Later versions had enclosed cab, metal doors and an improved windscreen.

The Bedford MWD was widely used in North Africa during WWII for transporting troops, particularly in the armoured brigades. This model MWD truck comes in desert camouflage with 'canvas' back and detailed numbering/lettering on the front and back, as would have been used by the Royal Artillery in the desert and Malta in particular.
