This Kriegsmarine special force was formed in 1944 to operate midget submarines ('beavers') and explosive motor craft ('lentils'). It proved modestly successful in sinking Allied shipping, but also carried out numerous raids on bridges (notably Nijmegen before MARKET-GARDEN) and other strategic targets. Preface by Hellmuth Heye who was formerly Admiral of the Force.
