In Japanese Hands: Australian Nurses As POWs (1985) By Sister Jessie Elizabeth Simons

In 1942, sixty-five women, members of the Australian Army Nursing Service, were evacuated from a blazing Singapore, to escape captivity by the invading Japanese. Of that group, twenty-four survived bombing, shipwreck, drowing, shooting, sickness, disease and captivity in Sumatra to return to Australia three and a half years later. The author was one of those nurses and this is their story, told with simplicity and power.

An amazing collection of newspaper clippings related to the topic awaits the future owner of this book.
