Young Lieutenant 'Red' McTaggart advanced and peered round a tree at the powerful Japanese patrol halting ahead. Behind him his jungle fighters waited tensely, muttering among themselves. Would Red order the "Charge !" -- or would he back down and slink back? Once the Japs had dug in there'd be no shifting them.
 
His men knew something about their young leader. He was last of the line of a famous Scots clan.
