Arthur And Emily: Letters In Wartime (1984) By Irene Macdonald and Susan Radvansky

Your train has gone, your brave face at the window is lost to me, and almost I can feel the grinding of the wheels over my body. Oh Arthur, what have we done to bring this day about? Why did I think it was right for you to leave me?

Arthur and Emily Dunbar were husband and wife, separated in 1915 by the Great War. They cover the period August 1915 when Arthur departed until January 1916. Emily's letters provide details of their life in (possibly) rural NSW and Arthurs cover his voyage to England and the Middle East and his time in Zeitown Camp.
