Arbeits-Kommando (1975) By Elvet Williams

Private Elvet Williams was captured in Crete in 1941. He was destined for imprisonment in the Arbeits- Kommandos - work camps - of Europe.

Isolated in a hostile country, these camps worked their 'other ranks' prisoners long and exhausting hours. There was no energy left for forming Escape Committees, manufacturing disguises, false papers, or money. And escaping involved not only breaking out of camp but surviving the killing run for home across an enemy-occupied continent. But Private Williams was determined to escape - and to survive.

ARBEITSKOMMANDO is the other side of the prisoner of war story; how ordinary men could still fight and overcome impossible odds to be free.
